Community halls reopen in Hackney
Council-run community halls across the borough are now re-open, with residents and community groups able to make bookings in these valuable local spaces.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, community halls had to close to the public in March 2020, but now as restrictions have eased the halls are reopening, provided that the space has good ventilation.
As coronavirus cases are still prevalent, the Council will still provide Covid-19 safety information to all hirers to help them stay safe and minimise the spread of the virus. There will also be some extra checks and safety measures where community groups are working with vulnerable adults.
There are 33 Council-run community halls in total, with rooms varying in size from meeting rooms for 10 people to halls for 150. Available to hire seven days a week, throughout the year with most able to hire between 9am and 11pm.
If you’re looking for an affordable venue to hire, community halls provide great facilities right across the borough.
If you’re organising a party or wedding reception, arranging a conference or exhibition, or looking to run a training course or regular activity, the Council has a great range of spaces.

These local venues really bring the community together, as well as providing spaces for fun things like kids parties, they also have a vital role in tackling issues including loneliness and obesity - by providing low cost spaces for community groups to run classes.
It’s great that these community hubs can reopen once more and help bring us back together.
I also understand that some people might still be worried about catching the coronavirus, that's why we are ensuring that the community halls have good ventilation, and Covid-19 safety information is provided to all hirers. As a Council we are also promoting the coronavirus vaccination to all residents, and reminding people about the importance of regular testing and hands, face, space.
Private hire rates start at £30 per hour for halls and community hire rates for rooms start at £10 per hour depending on the room size.
Let the Council know your requirements, so the community hall team can find the right hall for your event.
