Clissold Park splash pad returns this month

Clissold Park splash pad is back this month as it reopens for the summer.

With a tipping bucket, water fountains and sprays, there’s fun for all children under the age of 16. There’s no standing water, so it’s safer and uses less water than a paddling pool.

The splash pad will open every weekend from 20 May until 23 September, every day during the May half-term holidays and for the entirety of the school summer holidays, from 11am to 6pm.

The Council’s leisure centre operator GLL will now run the splash pad, with a dedicated booking page set up on its website.

There, residents can book 60 minute sessions, however - in a change from last year - half of the slots will be bookable and half will be available on a first-come-first-served basis.

Booking for the splash pad opens on 15 May, with people able to book sessions up to five days in advance.

There are on-site toilets and a new kiosk, serving ice cream and drinks while the splash pad is open.

During July, local community organisations, nurseries and schools will be able to book the splash pad free of charge, and it will also be available for children’s parties, which will be charged to help subsidise the running of the splash pad.

Thousands of local residents visited the splash pad when it opened during the summer holidays last year, replacing the former paddling pool at Clissold Park.

Cllr Caroline Woodley, Cabinet Member for Families, Parks and Leisure

The number of visits to the splash pad last year surpassed all our expectations - and we’re really looking forward to reopening this popular attraction.

We remain committed to improving facilities in our parks, which are so important for Hackney residents, particularly those of us who do not have green space of our own.

We’re looking forward to working with GLL and local partners to increase accessibility and can’t wait to see kids enjoy the incredible sprays, tipping bucket and fountains this year!

Cllr Caroline Woodley, Cabinet Member for Families, Parks and Leisure

Following our long and successful leisure partnership with Hackney Council, the addition of the Clissold Park Splash Pad and its kiosk to the borough facilities we already operate is welcome news.

The large and enjoyable fun area with its water jets, sprays and play features will be a huge draw for young families in the warmer weather. Alongside a number of free walk-up sessions available daily, free bookings can be made via our Better_uk app.

Our friendly staff look forward to serving thousands of residents, helping them enjoy the whole summer running around in the fountains or just relaxing in the nearby greenspace with a cold drink or ice cream.
