Book your place on a free food safety workshop

Those working in African food shops or residential care homes in Hackney are being encouraged to take part in a free ‘Safer Food, Better Business’ workshop.

The workshops for African food shops will be held at The Alevi Cultural Centre, Ridley Road on Thursday 23 October and Thursday 30 October.

The workshops for residential care homes will be held at The Stoke Newington West Reservoir Centre, Green Lanes on Tuesday 4 November, Thursday 6 November and Tuesday 11 November.

They are designed to help owners and managers comply with food safety regulations, such as having a written food safety management system in place. A helpful information pack will be available at the workshops, as well as the opportunity to book further free coaching sessions.

Cllr Laing, Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods said: “It is very important that food businesses are aware of the regulations and understand what they need to do in order to comply with food safety rules.”

The workshops will be run by Hackney Council’s Environmental Health team and are funded by the Food Standards Agency.

For further information and to book a place on the workshop, please contact Jane Fettes on 0208 356 4925 or jane.fettes@hackney.gov.uk and request an application form.
