Woodberry Down residents invited to decide how to spend £20k grant
Residents who live on the Woodberry Down Estate are invited to vote on how they want to see £20,000 spent at a special event on Sunday 19 May.
Last month local organisations applied for up to £500 for small projects or £3,000 for larger projects that help people in the area to lead more active, healthy lifestyles.
The short-listed applicants will now present their ideas to the local community at the voting day event; Sunday 19 May from 2-6pm. Residents who attend will score the ideas from 1-10. The projects with the highest scores will be awarded some funding. This will continue until the money runs out.
Residents will decide how to spend £20,000 on their estate. This really is putting power in the hands of local people and will help make sure that local knowledge is used to support residents to stay healthy and independent.
Initiatives that encourage healthy eating; get residents more active through sport and physical activity; promote the use of open spaces, or use arts and cultural activities to bring the community together will all be voted on.
