Hackney’s young reading group members will get the chance to meet two leading children’s authors later this month.

Jeff Norton, author of Memoirs of a Neurotic Zombie will be at Hackney Central Library, on Thursday 16 October from 4pm. Ten lucky young people will be given a free copy of the book.

Julian Sedgwick, author of the Mysterium Trilogy will be at Dalston CLR James Library, on Saturday 18 October from 2pm. Ten free copies of this book will also be given away.

Hackney has seven Chatterbooks reading groups that give children aged between 4 and 12 years an opportunity to have a great time talking about books. The groups meet every month to discuss a book, play games and sometimes they meet the authors of books they are reading or have read.

Joining Chatterbooks is easy. Just contact the local library and ask to speak to the Chatterbooks co-ordinator. Find out dates and times of the seven reading groups here.

The two special events have been arranged by Hackney Council as part of The Reading Agency National Chatterbooks Week, 11 to 18 October.

At both events a local bookshop will be selling the authors’ books ready for the authors to sign.
