Thousands of children offered primary school places in Hackney

Nearly 90% of children have been offered a place at one of their parents’ top three preferences of Hackney primary school.

Offer letters have been sent to families of children who are due to start primary school in September 2014. A total of 2,879 applications were received from families who live in Hackney, with a further 399 from outside the borough.

Of those, 89.9% have been offered a place at one of their top three schools, and 78% - 2,253 - will be going to their parent’s first choice.

Those who applied late or have not yet been offered a place at one of their preferences will be offered a place at one of the 166 remaining places through a second round of offers.

This is always an anxious time for parents so I’m pleased that we’ve been able to offer so many a place at one of their top preference schools. No matter which school they start at in September, Hackney children will receive a great start to their education at some of the most improved schools in the country.
