The next series of exciting and informative Hackney TEDx events will begin on 1 November, with pre-recorded talks from some of the world’s most inspiring philosophers, sociologists, and psychologists, to stimulate debate and encourage discussion.

TEDx is a non-profit organisation, which aspires to make great ideas accessible and spark conversation through inspiring talks of 18 minutes or less. Beginning over 35 years ago, TED today has amassed more than a billion views of their TED Talks videos, covering topics in more than 100 languages.

This year, TEDx Hackney will feature talks on mental health, identity, aging in the 21st century, and more. Each event will have two or more pre-recorded talks and will be introduced by a host who will then lead a discussion with the audience.

The first TEDx Hackney Council talks took place in 2015 and were attended by over 100 residents. All of the events are free and aimed at those aged 13 years and over.

Cllr Jon Burke, Cabinet Member for Energy, Sustainability, & Community Services
It’s incredibly exciting that TEDx are coming back to Hackney libraries to give residents the chance to discuss and share their thoughts on issues as diverse and pressing as ageing and the pervasiveness of the internet. Once again, local experts will also be joining the discussions; bringing perspectives from their varied and fascinating professions. These events are not to be missed, so come along to the CLR James Library in Dalston and be inspired by what TEDx has to offer!
