Hackney Town Hall

The Mayor of Hackney Philip Glanville and Cabinet Member for Community Safety, Cllr Caroline Selman, released the following statement over the weekend:

"We would like to extend our sympathy to the family and friends of the young man who lost his life in the early hours of Saturday morning. We understand the sense of shock and the questions that incidents like this raise. We welcome the very early involvement of the IPCC. It is important that the investigation is independent and transparent.

"We recognise that emotions will inevitably be raw but would call for calm at this difficult time. We would urge anyone with information or concerns about the incident to contact the IPCC."
