Barbecue use suspended in London Fields following London-wide advice from fire brigade

Deputy Mayor, Cllr Feryal Demirci, responds to the London Fire Brigade's advice on barbecues in parks:

Cllr Feryal Demirci, Deputy Mayor
Yesterday, the London Fire Brigade issued a London-wide fire safety warning to suspend the use of barbecues in public parks due to the current high risk of fire.

As a result, we are suspending the use of all barbecues in London Fields - the only park in the borough where barbecues are allowed - with immediate effect.

I would like to urge all residents and visitors to Hackney to comply with this request from the fire brigade and not use barbecues in any parks or green spaces in the borough.
Cllr Feryal Demirci, Deputy Mayor
