Shop local, Shop at Hackney s markets this Christmas

Hackney Council is encouraging people to ‘Love Hackney, Shop Local’ and support their local shops and markets.

Hackney has some of the most vibrant markets in London where the choice is varied and there are bargains galore. Shoppers will be supporting local traders and they will find the sort of gifts you might not find on the high street.

Councillor Feryal Demirci, Cabinet members for Neighbourhoods said: “Hackney Markets are a perfect place pick up some fabulous Christmas gifts, to get your evening started or relax after a hard day s Christmas shopping. Hackney markets offer unique goods that you wouldn t find anywhere else and you’re guaranteed to pick up a bargain. ”

Diane Cunningham from the Chatsworth Road Traders Association said: “We want to encourage people to shop local and support their local shops and markets. Chatsworth Road will be holding a special Christmas market which will see the road closed to traffic and a host of activities taking place. There will be the usual array of stalls from street food to vintage clothes and furniture accompanied by carol singing and mince pies and you’ll be able to buy Christmas trees and turkeys too.”
