Hackney Homes is calling on residents to nominate people and projects who make a difference in the community for the annual Active Residents Awards.Running for nine years, the awards acknowledge the achievements made by individuals and community groups across Hackney Homes estates and street properties.

New categories for this year include Tenant Management Organisation (TMO) Resident Involvement Award, recognising the work that TMOs do to involve residents; and Tenant and Resident Association (TRA) of the Year, identifying TRAs that make a difference to the lives of residents, providing support and activities that help to bring the community together.

Shade Ajigbeda, previous Resident of the Year winner for her involvement with young people in the community, said: “I was honoured and humbled to win. It’s not where you live it’s how you live. We need to keep improving our community to help the next generation.”

Cllr Philip Glanville, Cabinet Member for Housing
It is always a pleasure to hear about the incredible work done by our residents. These awards are a great way to recognise those unsung heroes who do so much for those around them and who make Hackney such a great place to live.
