New health and fitness facilities for Hackney

Queensbridge Community Centre has been given a new lease of life. The formerly underused centre between Dalston and London Fields is now a thriving community hub for health and fitness.

Improvements to the centre, which was reopened on 20 July include: brand new state of the art fitness equipment, from cardio vascular machines, to resistance equipment and a specialist aerobiking zone; a 25-person studio for group classes including yoga, Boxfit, cycling and body conditioning; and upgraded male and female changing rooms.

The new facilities at Queensbridge Sports and Community Centre have boosted health, fitness, and most importantly fun, in the local community.

It’s brilliant to see so many Hackney residents improving their health through exercise and utilising the excellent fitness centres in the borough.
Cllr Jonathan McShane, Cabinet Member for Health, Social Care and Culture, Hackney Council

Tony Wallace, GLL’s Regional Director for London East, said: “We are proud to have worked in partnership with Hackney Council to deliver the new offer at Queensbridge Leisure Centre which will meet the needs of the ever growing local community with a fantastic new gym, studio and changing room provision.

“As the UK’s leading leisure charitable social enterprise, we help more people be active, more often. The redevelopment has created a wide range of affordable activities for the local community in Hackney to live healthier and better lives.”
