Shoppers using Hackney’s rich variety of street markets can receive a special limited edition shopping bag designed by some of the borough’s finest creatives. As part of the Love Hackney Shop Local campaign and aimed at encouraging people to shop locally, the exclusive offer is open shoppers spending £5 or more at participating markets. The opportunity is open to shoppers on a total of four dates across Hackney’s diverse markets.

Bags designed by Tessa Edwards will be available to shoppers at Hoxton Street Market on 21 June, by Silken Favours at Chatsworth Market on 22 June, by Agi and Sam at Ridley Road Market on 27 June and Barley Massey at Broadway Market on 28 June.

Sam Cotton, of Hackney based designers, Agi and Sam said: 'We were very flattered to be asked by Hackney Council to take part in the Tote Bag project. We've lived in Dalston for 5 years and have gained so much inspiration from the area. Ridley Road market is an area especially important to Hackney; rich with culture and history it's an amazing place to visit.

“We've spent many an evening down there in pop up bars, restaurants and pubs, and even more time in the haberdasheries and grocery market.”
