The Active Residents Awards, now in its tenth year, acknowledges the achievements made by individuals and community groups living or working on Council estates and properties.
Perhaps you know someone who has gone above and beyond the call of duty in the community? A fabulous fundraiser or volunteer; a brilliant project; or an individual who has gone that extra mile to better their neighbourhood? We want to hear about them.
There are many people and projects out there doing incredible work and making a huge difference to the lives of people in our estates and communities - it's time they get the recognition and thanks they deserve.
These awards are a great way to recognise those unsung heroes who do so much for those around them and who make Hackney such a great place to live.
Categories this year, are:
Resident of the Year: Recognises an individual who has helped make Hackney a better place to live and goes the extra mile to help others. They have introduced a forum or an initiative or done something unusual or special for their community.
Community Project of the Year: Recognises the hard work that goes into community projects and the residents that make them happen.
Youth Project of the Year Recognises a young person who has made a positive impact in their neighbourhood and is a role model to others.
Ron Devoti Award for Long Service to Hackney: Recognises residents who have dedicated many years to improving the community in which they live. This category is in honour of the late Ron Devoti, a well-known and respected resident.
Tenant Management Organisation (TMO) Resident Involvement Award: Recognising the work that TMOs do to involve residents.
Tenant and Resident Association (TRA) of the Year: Identifying TRAs that make a difference to the lives of residents, providing support and activities that help to bring the community together.

All shortlisted residents will be invited to a special awards ceremony, where the winners will be announced. The deadline for nominations is Friday 20 January 2017.
