Inspiring women wanted to empower younger females

inspiring-0445-2.jpg

Are you a woman who lives or works in Hackney with an unusual job, an inspiring career, or successfully working in a typically male-dominated world?

Then we want you to inspire and empower the next generation of young Hackney women to broaden their horizons and aspirations, smash glass ceilings, and think outside the career box.

Hackney Council is holding its inaugural Inspiring Young Hackney Women event on Wednesday 8 March to coincide with International Women’s Day.

The day will see local women share their stories in a bid to motivate and galvanise young women from Hackney schools, who will then take those narratives back to their peers.

Cllr Anntoinette Bramble, Deputy Mayor of Hackney
It is vitally important that women are empowered, from a young age, to aim high in their career aspirations, and be given the tools and the confidence to reach their goals.

This is the second year we are running the Inspiring Young Hackney Women event, which aims to bring together local women from a range of professions and backgrounds to talk to the younger generation about the vast, exciting possibilities that await them in the working world.

I would encourage women to get in touch and inspire other by sharing their stories.
Cllr Anntoinette Bramble, Deputy Mayor of Hackney

If you’re interested in taking part, please contact the Young Hackney Volunteer Coordinator by Sunday 26 February on email: xanthippi.karkantou@hackney.gov.ukor by phone: 020 8356 3962.

The event will comprise a Q&A with panellists followed by a ‘speed-dating’-style event, which will allow the younger women to talk to speakers and participants in smaller groups, followed by an opportunity to network.
