Hundreds take up free swimming lessons in Hackney

What better time to learn to swim or improve your skills than the summer? Free family summer swimming lessons held at Kings Hall Leisure Centre went down a storm, with hundreds of people participating in just two weeks.

The family sessions were delivered Monday to Friday over two weeks from the 25 July to 5 August and saw 179 adults, and 1,803 children attend – most of whom came for an average of 5 lessons.

The sessions were so successful that Kings Hall Leisure Centre had 392 enquiries about further swimming lessons, and crash courses for the rest of August are now fully booked.

If you missed the free lessons you can still enjoy Finding Dory sessions twice a week at Kings Hall Leisure Centre and Clissold Leisure Centre. The sessions are free for adult members and children, or £4.85 for adult non-members, children still go free.

The Finding Dory sessions are led by a trained ‘pool activator’ and involve activities based on core aquatic skills, inspired by the film. Families will have a whale of a time as they dive like Dory, splash like sea lions, and hide like Hank.
