How does your garden grow?

If you are proud of your planting skills and think your garden is among the borough’s best, then there’s still time to enter this summer s Hackney in Bloom contest.

The competition is not just about flowers, it’s about home gardens, window boxes, patio gardens, vegetable patches and pub gardens too.

Categories for entry are best front garden; community project; food growing project; container garden; voluntary organisation garden; business premises; pub or restaurant; educational garden, plus the young and green fingered award.

Councillor Jonathan McShane, Hackney Council Cabinet Member for Community Services said: “The contest is an opportunity for people to show how much they care about their gardens and the local environment. All their hard work supports the Council s continuing desire to make the borough a great place to live, work and visit."

Entries must be submitted by Friday 11 June. Just pick up an entry form or apply online at the Council’s website: www.hackney.gov.uk/hackney-in-bloom

Prizes will be awarded for the winning entries, and an award will also be given to the best overall entry.
