Have Your Say Vote 3rd of May

Hackney residents are being encouraged to exercise their right to vote on 3 May 2012 for the Mayor of London and the 25 members of the London Assembly.

The Mayor and Assembly are responsible for many aspects of your everyday life in London including transport, policing, the environment, housing and economic development.

The London Assembly hold the Mayor to account by examining their decisions and actions to ensure they deliver on their promises to Londoners.

Of the 25 Assembly members, 11 represent the whole of the capital and 14 are elected to represent the constituencies – including Hackney.

To be able to vote in the London elections you must:
·live in London
·be a British, Republic of Ireland, Commonwealth or EU citizen
·be 18 years old or over on 3rd May 2012. 16 and 17 year olds can register with Hackney Council and will be added to the electoral register when they become 18.
