Have your say on future of Manor House

Public consultation: 27 September to 6 December 2010

Residents and local businesses are invited to have their say about the future of Manor House during Hackney Council’s public consultation on a draft Masterplan for the local area around the Tube station, which sits alongside Woodberry Down at the junction with Seven Sisters Road and Green Lanes.

The Council is responsible for guiding the future development of Manor House, attracting investment and improving the public realm in the area, which is an important local centre and transport hub.

The draft Phase 1 Area Action Plan (AAP) Manor House Masterplan has been produced to set out the Council’s potential planning and design policies for the area. It outlines a comprehensive and deliverable strategy to shape positive change over a plan period of 15 years.

It has been developed using feedback received from the community at meetings and workshops, and from an analysis of the area, all of which were carried earlier this year.

The Council now wants views and comments on the vision and objectives for Manor House, including proposals for new square, new facilities at the entrance of Finsbury Park, as well as the height and use of the buildings around the area. We are also seeking views about the ability to move to, from and within the area.

Councillor Guy Nicholson, Cabinet Member for Regeneration and the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, said: “Manor House sits in a unique position alongside the open spaces of both Finsbury Park and the West Reservoir, with access to the London Underground network and adjacent to the Woodberry Down housing development that is now underway. Now is the time to decide on the best use of these opportunities for the future of the Manor House neighbourhood, and for residents and businesses to send in your ideas and thoughts about how Manor House becomes our newest town centre.”

The consultation is open to all, but the Council particularly encourages responses from, residents and businesses in the Manor House and Woodberry Down area. Also people that use the transport links in and around Manor House.

It runs until 6 December 2010 and respondents have the chance to win one of three £20 Marks & Spencer vouchers.
