Hackney's Christmas light switch-on

Hackney Town Hall Christmas lights

Panto characters from Hackney Empire’s Cinderella will join the Speaker of Hackney, Cllr Soraya Adejare, to turn on the borough’s Christmas lights at 5pm on Sunday 26 November in Hackney Town Hall Square on Mare Street.

The annual switch-on and launch of the Christmas countdown will see carol singing from a choir and a steel pan band playing festive tunes.

Christmas trees and lights will also be unveiled on the day across the borough, which will see local markets such as Ridley Road lit up alongside Christmas trees in each of Hackney’s town centres.

The Speaker of Hackney, Cllr Soraya Adejare
I’m excited to join Hackney’s residents as well as Hackney Empire’s panto cast to help celebrate the start of the festive season, with the annual light-switch on. I would encourage residents to come down and help join in the countdown to Christmas!
