Hackney’s celebration of poetry

On Friday 10 October, to mark National Poetry Day (9 October), Hackney Libraries will launch their new poetry collection at Stamford Hill Library, 6.30pm, with a reading by Hackney poets Michael Rosen, Jo Roach, Derrick Porter and Jude Rosen.

The collection comprises a wide range of single author collections in English, also anthologies, books about poetry and poets and a selection of poetry journals.

The books will support readers at all levels and provide a focus for those who wish to expand their knowledge of poetry. A full book list can be accessed at all libraries in Hackney, for your nearest branch visit: www.hackney.gov.uk/libraries

The evening will also launch Hackney Libraries poetry reading group, which will meet on the last Monday of each month at Stamford Hill Library.

Councillor Nargis Khan, Cabinet Member for Community Services, said: This is a wonderful opportunity for people to come along and sample our new collection and access the many activites and resources available at libraries across the borough.”

There will be something for everyone - if you are a poet, a student of poetry or just wanting to give poetry a try.
