Hackney welcomes its new Director of Education

Hackney Town Hall

Hackney Council is pleased to welcome Anne Canning as its new Director of Education and Head of Hackney Learning Trust.

Anne brings a wealth of experience, having worked as a maths teacher and head teacher in schools across London for 30 years, before becoming Service Head for Learning and Achievement at Tower Hamlets Council, where she was responsible for raising educational standards.

I am excited to take up my post at Hackney Council and to work with such an innovative and forward thinking team at the Hackney Learning Trust.

My priorities are supporting our schools to aim high and continue being ambitious for all pupils across the borough. I’m especially passionate about ensuring all young people, no matter what their background, receive the start in life they deserve, and that they make the right choices for them, post-16.
