Hackney residents invited to 2012 jobs roadshows

Opportunities now – jobs service helps Hackney residents into work and training

Hackney residents are being invited to attend jobs roadshows to find out more about jobs and training in the borough, including 2012 Games-related work.

The roadshows on 26, 27 and 28 November will promote the borough’s one-stop jobs shop ‘On Site Hackney Recruitment Centre’ which gives residents one-to-one advice and support to help find the right job for them.

It has jobs on the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games site as well as vacancies with other employers in areas including retail, administration, construction, hospitality, call centres, media and IT.

On Site can also help residents find training courses to prepare them for work. It runs taster courses and has information about apprenticeships for careers in all areas of construction. It also offers advice on CV writing and interview skills.

It is funded by Hackney Council, the London Development Agency and Job CentrePlus.

Cllr Guy Nicholson, Hackney Council Cabinet Member for Regeneration and the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, said: “Hackney Council is committed to ensuring residents have the best possible opportunities available to them to apply for work created by the 2012 Games and other regeneration projects across our borough. On Site Hackney Recruitment Centre provides an easy and convenient way to finding those job opportunities.”

The roadshows will offer information on job vacancies, taster training courses and apprenticeships. There will be a chance for residents to register their details with On Site.
