Hackney One Carnival back for 2014

Hackney_One_Carnival.jpg

Music, magnificent costumes and dancing will once again fill the borough's streets as the Hackney One Carnival returns on Sunday 14 September.

The council-run event will bring together hundreds of performers from carnival and community groups across the borough in a celebration of the different cultures and creativity which thrive in Hackney.

Highlights this year will see Hackney’s best young musicians performing on a stage in Hackney Town Hall Square. An all-day children’s play area will be created in Gillett Square, including games from around the world. After the procession, the carnival will continue in Ridley Road, with Reggae, Soca and Brazilian music, plus food and arts and crafts from around the world.

This year there are more opportunities for people to get involved either as volunteer or through schools and local community groups.

Look out for the announcement of the route and other exciting additions to Hackney One Carnival 2014.

Anyone individual or group wanting to get involved in Hackney One Carnival 2014, should contact Pax Nindi on 0208 356 7209 or pax.nindi@hackney.gov.uk
