Hackney cycle pit stops for tip top bikes

Cyclists are invited to come along to two free events over the summer where they can bring along their bike for an on the spot health check.

Cycling is an increasingly popular method of transport in Hackney, not only for its health benefits, but because it’s also faster and cheaper than many options.

The Council’s Streetscene Team, in partnership with the Metropolitan Police and London Cycling Campaign, will be holding Cycle Pit Stop events on:

· Thursday 28 July, 4-7pm, at junction of Wordsworth Rd / Palatine Rd (Butterfield Green), N16
· Thursday 4 August, 12-3pm, at St John s at Hackney Churchyard, Lower Clapton Road, E5

Cyclists can ride in and get a free bike check-up, plus practical support and information to help them get around Hackney by bike.

Councillor Feryal Demirci, Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods, said: “Events like these offering free bike checks and expert advice are really useful. They demonstrate how simple and necessary it is to make sure that bikes are in a roadworthy condition, and are part of the Council’s commitment to support and encourage all those who live, work or study in Hackney to travel greener.”
