Have your say on Hackney's ambitious ten-year travel plan

Leonard Circus

Residents can help shape the future of transport and travel in Hackney by taking part in an important Hackney Council survey.

Improving life for pedestrians in our town centres; building on Hackney's cycling revolution; and securing better public transport are just some of the proposals you can have your say on in the draft Hackney Transport Strategy 2014-2024.

Cllr Feryal Demirci, Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods, Hackney Council
This document is an incredible, innovative and ambitious plan for the future of Hackney. It outlines what the Council hopes to achieve in the next ten years in terms of how residents get around the borough and the impact that has on people’s lives and the environment. It confronts a range of problems facing Hackney at the moment and what is likely to cause issues in the future, from our rapidly-growing population to the rapidly-growing waistlines of our children. But it also seeks to build on a wealth of positives the Council has achieved, including our improved walking rates, as well as our position as London’s foremost ‘Cycling Borough’. It is vital we hear what you have to say.

Other areas being consulted upon include: improving the safety of our streets, public places and roads; increasing tree-planting; reducing vehicle emissions; and increasing access to jobs.

Hackney's vision is to lead the way in London transport provision and create a fair, equitable, safe and responsive system by 2024. Find out more and complete the questionnaire. You can also email your comments to: movegreener@hackney.gov.uk
