Hackney Carers Conference 2009 - invitation

ARE you a carer for someone? If so, come along to Hackney Town Hall to find out more about services and benefits that are available for you.

The free, annual Carers Conference takes place on 17 March this year in the Assembly Halls of the Town Hall, between 10am and 3.30pm.

Carers – people who provide unpaid care and look after a friend, relative or neighbour – will be able to speak about their experiences of working with the Council and NHS; meet other carers; apply for a free two-day retreat; find out about free training courses; and lots more.

The theme of this year’s conference is partnership, and the event will explore and develop how the Council and NHS work in partnership with carers.

Carers can also apply for the Hackney Carers Card, which offers concessionary rates of up to 50 per cent at Council leisure centres, and discounts at local shops.

Cllr Nargis Khan, Cabinet Member for Community Services, said: “Hackney is committed to improving services for carers, and to valuing their important role. I strongly urge carers in the borough to come along to the conference and find out more about the services that are available for them.”

If you would like to attend the 2009 Carers Conference: Equal Partners in Care, please contact City and Hackney Carers Centre on 020 8985 1600 or visit them at Unit 17, 11-20 Tudor Grove, Hackney, E9 7QL.
