Hackney Design Awards 2014 – Celebrating the Best in Design and Architecture
Hackney Council is searching for the best new buildings and public spaces in the borough. Nominations open this week on 2 June.
Anyone can nominate buildings or places that are of high quality design. Architects, residents, and visitors who have spotted an outstanding building in Hackney can nominate it.
There is a wide range of different types of projects eligible for the awards, including residential, commercial, community, educational and industrial uses.
Alterations to existing buildings can also be nominated: including extensions, refurbishments, conversions or restorations. Public realm projects, those that improve a street or park, and landscaping, projects are also eligible for nomination.
Entries will be shortlisted and judged by an independent panel of architects and urban designers and the awards will be announced later in the year.
To be eligible, buildings or projects must have been completed and functioning in the last two years.
