It's good to take, great to give and even better to repair

Get rid of your unwanted things, pick up something you like or learn how to fix electrical items at a Give or Take Day on Saturday 24 January at the Redmond Community Centre.

Give

Clothes, furniture, plants, tools, jewellery, toys… anything except large appliances. 11am – 3pm.

Take

Bikes, records, books... you never know what you might find. 12noon – 3pm.

Repair

Tired toaster? Poorly printer? Lazy laptop? Morbid mobile? Hackney Fixers will help you repair it. 11am – 3pm.

Cllr Feryal Demirci, Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods, Hackney Council
What might seem like a pile of unused bits and bobs could be the perfect addition to another person’s home.

Thousands of electrical items are needlessly thrown away when they could be repaired quite easily. Hackney Fixers can help residents give their broken items a new lease of life and save money by not having to buy new things.

Give or Take Days help to divert materials from entering the waste stream. They are a fun way for residents to see what can be reused and repaired, and how they can help to reduce waste in Hackney.
Cllr Feryal Demirci, Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods, Hackney Council

Hackney Council’s Give or Take Day is run and supported by Hackney Friends of the Earth, Sustainable Hackney and Manor House Development Trust. There will be a limited number of free meals provided to attendees made from surplus food donated by local businesses and prepared by Manor House PACT.
