Free child car seat tests in Hackney

Hackney Road Safety team and their Tower Hamlets counterparts will be offering free child car seat tests on Tuesday 26 May.

Experts will be on hand to offer in-car safety advice and answer questions as well as check seats are correctly fitted at drop-in testing sessions at Tesco car park, Morning Lane, E9, from 10am until 3.30pm.

Cllr Alan Laing, Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods said: “Child seats can reduce the chances of a child being injured or even killed in a car accident but only of they’re fitted correctly. Research carried out by Trading Standards found that on average, eight out of 10 children’s car seats are fitted incorrectly.

“Parents and child carers should also be aware that they could face a £30 on the spot fine for not securing young children properly in cars. Or they could end up in court and face a fine of up to £500. It’s absolutely vital that children’s car seats are fitted correctly. I urge people to take advantage of this free service.”

Make sure your children are safe, take your car to Tesco car park, Morning Lane, E9 on Tuesday 26 May and get a free child car seat check.
