Come to networking event and learn how to save your business money

Zen Pop-ups

Save money, reduce pollutants and improve staff health: those are the benefits Hackney Council is promising businesses as it launches its pioneering green project.

Hackney has joined forces with Islington and Towers Hamlets councils to offer a series of exclusive, cash-saving deals and eco tips for traders in and around Tech City, as part of the launch of the expanded Zero Emissions Network (ZEN).

The network is a group of businesses which are benefiting from unique access to free advice and services from travel, energy and eco experts.

ZEN (@ZENCityfringe) leaders will stage a takeover of Hoxton Square between 11am and 3pm on Thursday , 9 October to talk about some of the benefits they can provide, including how businesses can get:

  • Free business membership and to Zipcar or City Car Club worth £160
  • Free trial of electric cars and vans
  • Free half days bike maintenance session
  • Free trial of cargo bikes
  • Free energy audit to help reduce energy and save money
  • Advice on how to apply for green grants

On the day, visitors can check out a fleet of electric vehicles with a Tesla Model S, Renault Twizy/electric Kangoo, a Nissan Leaf and its van, the e-NV200, on display.

People can also take part in a cycle pit-stop offering free maintenance checks and tune-ups, cargo bike trials and enjoy a free drink from Black Box Coffee. A free networking event at BL-NK, Shoreditch, will be held from 6pm that evening to give non-ZEN members the chance to meet and discuss the project with members and partners, as well as check-out clean vehicles.

Guest speaker, green campaigner and writer Tony Juniper, will be talking about the problem of air pollution and the importance of projects such ZEN.

There will also be free street food and craft beer.

Cllr Feryal Demirci, Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods, Hackney Council
Shoreditch is horribly polluted and we all need to work together to try and make it a cleaner and more pleasant place to work and live. I would urge businesses in the area to get involved in the groundbreaking ZEN project for free advice and the range of offers. The benefits speak for themselves: better air, a healthier workforce and real cost savings.
