Love Clissold? Vote Clissold for Green Flag Park People's Choice Award
One of Hackney’s best-loved parks could become the nation’s favourite - with your help!
Residents are being urged to vote for Clissold Park in the Green Flag’s People's Choice Award 2014.
The rolling 54-acre Stoke Newington treasure, which celebrated its 125th anniversary in July, is beloved of both locals and visitors alike after receiving a record three million visits last year.
This summer the park held onto its coveted Green Flag status, for the eighth year running, which means it remains officially one of the finest parks in the country. Now Hackney Council is asking Love Clissold? Vote Clissold before the awards closing date of noon on 30 September.

Clissold Park was saved from redevelopment through huge public protest at the end of the 19th century and now the Council is issuing another rallying cry for people get behind Clissold and help put Hackney on the map.
Clissold was voted seventh favourite last year but we think we can do better this year and we’re asking people to show their love for one of the borough’s best and most-loved green spaces by taking a few moments to register their vote online.
More than £9 million has been invested over the past four years into restoring the park and the Grade II listed Clissold House back to their former glory through joint funding by the Council and the Heritage Lottery Fund.
The park currently offers a range of services, including tennis courts, skate park, children’s play area, learning pavilion, animal enclosures, organic food-growing area, paddling pool and cafe. Function rooms in the refurbished Clissold House are available for hire and regularly host weddings, parties and meetings.
A new tennis clubhouse will open later this year.
The winner of the 2014 People’s Choice will be announced on 16 October.
