Apprentices wanted to make a difference to homes in Hackney
Interested in an apprenticeship? Hackney Homes is calling for the borough’s young people to play a part in building Hackney’s future by joining the 2015 apprenticeship scheme.
The scheme is designed to give young people between the ages of 16 and 18 a chance to learn a trade within the repairs and maintenance industry. Hackney Homes are recruiting for electrical, gas, multi-trade, plumbing and gardening apprentices.
Trainees will be provided with quality training, paid work experience and an industry recognised qualification on completion of their apprenticeship. As well as on-the-job experience, the apprentices will learn construction skills by attending college.
Joe Alligan, 20, now in his third year of a gas engineer apprenticeship, said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed my apprenticeship. Through it I have learnt so much, gained excellent trade skills and a great work ethic. Everyone has been really helpful."
This scheme is a great opportunity for young people to gain practical experience and key skills to develop their future career. It’s always great to see young passionate people who want to learn a trade and contribute towards the future development of Hackney, whilst making a difference to the homes of many local residents.
Since the scheme began in 2002, 75 apprentices have been recruited and 85% of apprentices have gained full time employment with Hackney Homes.
